Ikaika, which means "strong and powerful" in Hawaiian, has already managed to live up to his name. While only 21 months old, Ikaika has already compiled quite an impressive resume, earning Best in Show honors at the Hawaiian Kennel Club under Judge Jackie Stacy, as well as a Best in Specialty Show at the Orange Coast Rhodesian Ridgeback Club with an entry of 157 under Judge Ms. Neena Van Camp. These prestigious victories have already propelled him toward the top of the charts with more great things to come.
Ikaika was sired by MBIS/MBISS Ch. Spring Valley's Great Gatsby, ROM and is out of Ch. Deer Ridge Dream Weaver, ROM, both of whom are very proud of their precocious son. Equally proud are Ikaika's owners, Tom and Barbara Peach of the North Shore, Ian and Sonnet McKinnon of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Pam Lambie of Fallbrook, California.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks, also known as the African Lion Hound, were bred to hunt and track lions, and even a cursory glance at Ikaika reminds you of the elegant power and strenght that defines this breed. His movement seems effortless, yet his drive is awe-inspiring. We look forward to everyone getting a chance to see this special dog.
